Design Thinking, Innovation and Imagination.
Make, write, and illustrate your own book. Design a Guatemalan inspired Day of the Dead kite. Design your own dream bedroom, including furniture, bed sheets and carpet. Invent a toy or product and design a logo, business card and webpage for it. Be an architect and design and render a “secret getaway” inspired by Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid. Design a crazy fun play-structure inspired by Yayoi Kusama. Create a wildly imaginative self portrait. Use your imagination to make a “giant” clay sculpture inspired by Claes Oldenburg. The creative process, not the product, is the goal in this class. We encourage kids to invent, collaborate, iterate, take risks, fail, keep trying, and have fun doing it!
Supplies needed: oil pastels or crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, markers, homemade clay or Model Magic air dry clay, a black fine point sharpie, scissors, tape, glue stick, pencil, plain Xerox paper for ideation sketches, and 9" x 12" pad of white mixed media paper.
