In this class we will play with words to tell the stories we are yearning to share. Whether about school, family, current events, social change, your neighborhood or any other topics that compel you, we will learn collective songwriting tools.
We will learn about rhyme schemes, protest songs, song structure, and some beginning music theory. Listening to music will be a substantial portion of this class and discussions surrounding what makes a song great will happen frequently. At the end of the winter semester, we will have a recital sharing the work we created.
No prior experience making music is required. Students who love to sing, play an instrument, or who love writing poetry are encouraged to sign-up!
