Students who have completed Grade 3 Accelerated or Grade 3 Advanced may continue to this course. The methodology prioritizes the use of logic and reasoning when solving arithmetic, algebraic, and word problems. The curriculum emphasizes fluency in computations, including all four operations, exponents, and the order of operations. Core topics include: rational numbers and operations with them, comparison, metric relationships analysis, inequalities, algebraic expressions, multi-step equations. Advanced level students continue to build on their foundation from previous years and dive deeper with operations with decimals, classification of angles, triangles, polygons, and special types of word problems (such as age and rate problems). After completing this course, students continue to our 5th grade Advanced or Honors Level, based on their teacher’s recommendation.
