This course traces the development of Western music from the Greco-Roman period to the present and includes units on world music and the history of popular music. Students will learn the fundamental techniques of musicology, music theory and critical listening skills. Students will also study the cultural influences of history and how they shape philosophy, visual art, architecture, literature, music, and theatre, and how all the humanities relate to each other.
