This course builds on the writing, reading, and language skills introduced and developed in English I. In the writing component, students will add greater complexity and sophistication to their essays. Students will write a minimum of ten (10) essays in the modes of narration, description, exposition, and argumentation and will study important concepts of grammar, usage, and mechanics. The literature component will focus on a study of short fiction. Students will also read a minimum of five books and continue to develop reading skills through the study of short non-fiction articles.
