To ensure a smooth academic transition from middle school to high school, Sion offers the High School Bridge Program. This program is designed to equip incoming freshmen with the tools they need to navigate a new academic environment and familiarize themselves with the rigor of the Sion curriculum.
The Pre-Algebra Course reinforces concepts such as:
- addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- negative numbers & fractions
- order of operations
- exponents
- multi-step equations
- ratios & proportions
All work is done without a calculator to prepare students for their Algebra I course in the fall. A written evaluation of each student will be provided to the parents at the end of the first two weeks and again at the end of the session. These evaluations will include a letter grade. Attendance is important. Students are allowed to miss up to two class periods. Cost: $200
The English Course reinforces concepts such as:
- parts of speech
- paragraph writing
- punctuation rules and application
- critical reading skills & analysis
- vocabulary
Students will complete one of the summer reading novels and produce a written response to the literature. A written evaluation of each student will be provided to the parents at the end of the first two weeks and again at the end of the session. These evaluations will include a letter grade. Attendance is important. Students are allowed to miss up to two class periods.
