Belly Dance is a Middle Eastern dance style that uses isolation of the torso and articulation of the hips to tell a story. There are percussive movements designed to accentuate a beat, fluid undulations, and shimmies & vibrations to add texture and emotion. Classes focus on technique and expression through performance. Stories are told through body movements and facial expressions. Beginners will benefit from owning a coin scarf and a set of finger cymbals called zills. The coin scarf gets tied around your hips to accentuate your dance through visual and auditory embellishments. Zills are worn on the fingers and can be played to enhance the beat and accents of your dance and music.
