The Accredited Chinese Language and Culture Program has received widespread attention from students and parents since its first class in Fremont in 2014. This year, three classes will be opened at the same time, including AP Chinese.
Chinese classes are divided into five levels: Chinese I, Chinese II, Chinese III, Chinese IV and AP Chinese, suitable for high school students and junior high school students in grades seven and eight. Chinese I does not require any Chinese language and can register directly. Chinese II or above is required to pass the Chinese language test of our school.
The Chinese Class I – IV uses the “Integrated Chinese” textbook, and the AP Chinese uses the “Harvest Intermediate Chinese” textbook. The credit classes at all levels are equipped with a large number of supplementary materials, which strengthen students' Chinese language ability and Chinese cultural knowledge from four aspects of listening, speaking, reading and writing, and lay a solid foundation for students to participate in the College Board's SAT Chinese exam and AP Chinese exam.
The current class I Chinese IV – IV has been approved by Fremont, Milpitas, Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and Alameda. AP Chinese has been approved by the Fremont and Castro Valley School Districts. After completing the course of the credit course, students can transfer credits to the student's high school or school district. The Chinese literature in Hai'ao is fully in line with the foreign language requirements of California's high school graduation. In other words, students have a Chinese literature class in our school, so they don't have to go to other high school classes in their high school (such as Spanish, French, etc.).
The class time is 32 weeks per academic year and 4 lessons per week. You can choose any of the three campuses for the class.
Chinese credits are divided into 10 credits a year (two semesters) and 5 credits per semester. Student grades are A, B, C, D, F. Grades and credits are transferred to the school or school district where the student is located in two (January and June).
