Rosetta Institute of Biomedical Research

About

We offer winter and summer workshops for high-achieving high school students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related fields, such as biomedical research, drug development, pharmacy or nursing. Our summer camps include Molecular Biology of Cancer, Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology, Molecular Biology of Aging, Bioinformatics of Cancer and Biomedical Research. Summer workshops are held at UC Berkeley, UC San Diego and at our facility in Alameda, CA. Residential and commuter options are available. Fall/winter workshops (online or in Alameda, CA) are online or commuter-only and include Covid-19: Biology/Immunity/Medicine (online in November), Biomedical Research (winter break and February), and Medicinal Chemistry and Medical and Translational Bioinformatics during winter break. Through engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory classes, students learn normal molecular and cellular biology, and then learn how these normal processes are distorted or disrupted during the development of disease. To conclude the workshop, students use what they have learned to create an original research project on a gene of their choice. More broadly, workshop attendees make friends from around the world, strengthen their academic skills, and experience college dorm life in a safe environment.
