Reel Stories

About

Reel Stories believes that when women and non-binary people are better represented behind the scenes in media, they will be better reflected on screen. Reel Stories is a non-profit organization that empowers 12-18 year old young women & non-binary youth with the skills to create their own media, to view current media critically and thoughtfully, and to aspire to leadership in their field. During the Reel Stories summer programs, participants work in small, collaborative groups, to write, shoot, edit and broadcast their own short films. At the end of the two weeks, they debut their films at a local theater open to the public. Reel Stories is the only female owned and run film program in the country led by media professionals. Financial aid is available. No one is ever turned away due to lack of funds.
