The minimum number of classes (Recreational Track) required to remain in this ballet level is 4 technique and 3 pointe class per week. Students taking the Recreational Track will progress through the level more slowly. ABT curriculum recommends 6 technique classes and 5 pointe classes per week to progress through this level at the expected rate. Students may follow the Fast Track and take all classes available in this level to increase their rate of progression. Students are required to take the technique class directly preceding each pointe class to be admitted into the classroom.
Intermediate-Professional Levels
Starting with Ballet 1, weekly classes become more intense and focused. California Arts Academy has three wonderful instructors, fully trained and certified in the American Ballet Theater program. Our curriculum and classroom experience is guided by this training. As a result, we offer a professional dancer track known as the “recommended” track as structured by the ABT guidelines for Ballet training. We also offer a “recreational” track for dancers dedicated to dance and technique but unable to commit to the training time and intensity of the recommended track.
