Our summer camp is a week-long program for young people ages 8-18. Campers attend instrument lessons, form a band, collaboratively write an original song, participate in daily music and empowerment-related workshops, and perform with their band at a live showcase at the end of the week.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, summer camp will look different this year. 2022's summer camp will be held at Malonga Casquelord Center for the Arts in Downtown Oakland from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Activities will be Tuesday through Saturday with a final showcase on the following Sunday. In person programming will be in 3 sessions and have a maximum of 19 youth per session (10 youth for teen week).
As a result of the recent global events Session 1 will be specifically intended for Black, Indigenous, People of Color identifying youth. We are not here to qualify or quantify what that means to you but we ask that individuals are considerate of who the space is intended for.
Summer 2022 Dates:
Session 1 (Black, Indigenous, Youth of Color Centered): July 12th - 16th // Showcase Sunday, July 17th
Session 2 (Teen Week): July 19th - 23rd // Showcase July 24th
