Keep your lathe tools sharp and your cuts clean. If you do a lot of work on our lathes, you know that cutting with a dull tool can be not only frustrating, but potentially dangerous.
In this hands-on tool training class, you'll learn how to use our Wolverine tool grinding jig to sharpen lathe tools that have a u-shaped cutting edge, like gouges. We'll also show you how to sharpen scrapers.
We'll cover:
- How to set up our Wolverine grinding jig
- How to sharpen scrapers using an angled grinding platform
- How to sharpen roughing gouges, bowl gouges, and spindle gouges using the Wolverine Jig's vee arm.
- Safety measures, tips and tricks for getting a sharp edge.

What to Bring
- Full length pants and closed-toed shoes
- Hair ties for longer hair
- Please wear natural fibers (wool,cotton,etc) for fire safety
- We recommend you bring your own safety glasses and hearing protection if possible. Maker Nexus will supply them for students who do not have their own.
