GRYD (Gang Reduction Youth Development)

Bresee is one of the subcontractor agencies from the Mayor's GRYD office that provides prevention GRYD services in the Olympic Zone Area. That covers Beverly Blvd to the North, Washington Blvd to the South, Normandie Avenue to the West, and Hoover St. to the East. Approximately 91 youths and their families will receive prevention services in a fiscal year. Our target population is neighborhood youth ages 10-15 who live in the Olympic zone and are at high risk for joining gangs. The GRYD program aims to increase protective factors while reducing risk factors and promote thriving among at-promise, opportunity, gang-involved, and system-involved young people by providing individual counseling, strengths-based family counseling, and high-quality youth development activities.
