What you'll do
Get on board with DIY fun in this weeklong game-making class. Combine paper construction and printing skills with your own rules and strategy to design, build and playtest a uniquely brilliant board game.
Kick off the week by thinking outside the box. be visionary as you brainstorm your game’s theme and objectives, then create a colorful board with an array of exciting of landing spaces. Learn 3D paper building to craft a collection of custom player pieces and a fast-flying spinner with an octet of options. Make two decks of playing cards customized with good, bad or funny directives, practicing printing techniques to embellish them with striking symbols. Discover the principles of playtesting as you give your game a try, then be reflective to tweak its components and hone its difficulty level. Wrap up the week by wrapping your game in an expertly lettered, awesomely eye-catching box.

This weeklong class is more than just an innovation-igniting project—it’s an immersive experience full of delightful details, including interactive games, silly traditions and snacks (see Materials, below) designed to build community, bolster confidence and deliver loads of camp-away-from-camp fun.
What you'll need
Materials
- 2 thin cardboard boxes (cereal box or similar)
- 3-6 index cards
- 1 circular object for tracing
- 1 paperclip or bobby pin
- 1 pushpin or thumbtack
- 1 white plastic bag
- 1 damp paper towel
- 1 small bowl with a little water in it
- 6-10 sheets standard-size paper
- 1 pencil with eraser
- 1 set of drawing tools
- 1 glue stick
- Scissors
- Tape
- Snack: Please have a snack and drink ready for your child approximately one hour into class.
