Especially in middle school, a common issue students face is losing understanding of what they are reading. In this class, students will be required to read and analyze a fiction novel, create a project on it, and will also be exposed to non-fiction articles and essays. They will focus on identifying themes then finding evidence from text to support their claims. Students will improve their reading skills, learn to grasp the context of the characters and their development, and more skillfully read between the lines to extract deeper meaning. Work is done in small groups and individually. The class will end with an exciting spelling bee!
