AM: Grade 3 - 8
Students learn basic design & programming to create simple APPs. Students learn coding syntax and embed code in their APP. They will have daily class assignments. The final assignment is to invent in APP Inventor. Previous App inventions: fortune teller, travel APP. Students need Gmail account and are given computers to share or can bring their own computer (Any Wi-Fi enabled laptop ok). Apps can be submitted to be published in Google Play!
PM: Grade 3 - 8
Business. Students form teams based on their age groups. They create ideas and develop a business plan which they will pitch by the end of class. They are given lessons, instructions, and business cases to learn about money or manufacturing. The last day, students will compete for the best overall business plan. Examples: a non-profit exchange, gift box App, etc. Students need (their own or access to) an email account. Teams are given a computer for research periods but students can bring their own too. Last hour of last day is Business-Convention where students demo and pitch to parents. Business plans are videotaped and entered in the Young Visionary Contest. The winners will win awards and get featured on contest webpage.
Leaders in Training (LIT) Grade 9 - 11
Are 2-3 reliable and mature high school students who will participate in all the camp lessons and activities but also assist the camp instructor and camp director. They will be trained and assist the instructors as well as conduct fun activities for campers. They may also be given an option to assist with blogging, marketing, etc. Successful LITs will get first priority for a paid internship in future camp seasons. Rising high school seniors or college students are encouraged to apply for jobs at startupwonder.com/jobs
