Advanced Debate will primarily focus on preparing the students for competitive Lincoln Douglas Debate in middle and high schools. The greater emphasis will be placed on the structure of LD Debate, including the instructions in writing cohesive cases, utilizing prep time, and researching. The program will include a variety of activities for students to practice delivering speeches and coming up with diverse arguments on the actual LD Debate resolutions. Returning students without an interest in joining competitive debate will also benefit from the academic challenges offered in the advanced curriculum.
The Advanced Debate sessions are open to both returning students as well as students with prior experience in LD Debate. The latter students will be required to describe their experiences in the student survey, which will be available closer to the camp dates.
