Hip Hop - We seek to broaden the understanding of the body, and how students can use movement to shape ideas through their connection to the music. We shine light on the foundation of the culture by embracing the fundamentals of Hip Hop funk styles such as Waving, Popping, Tutting, and Gliding. In order to bring awareness its evolution, we also shed light to how other styles such as Jazz, Ballet, and Modern, to show how they have influenced the journey of Hip Hop movement. By pulling similar concepts and movements from these other styles, we show the correlation on how all genres of dance are universal to understanding the body and how we utilize our instrument of expression.
