Depending on who you ask, the difficulty of an AP Statistics class ranges from “easy” to “really hard”. While problems in a traditional math class typically involve numbers and variables, AP Statistics problems often involve discussing key ideas and concepts that utilize critical and analytical skills. Statistics is known as the process in which students begin to identify a question or problem, collecting relevant data, analyzing the data, and forming a conclusion. In this course, students will learn to evaluate data, discuss the distributions of random variables, and inference based on confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Learning how to use technology to assist in analyzing large amounts of data will also be implemented in the course. Students who take this course will often take AP Statistics at their school site. Having passed Algebra II and developed a basic understand of Pre-Calculus is highly recommended. Students will be required to provide their own graphing calculator.
