AM: Grade 3 - 8
Games & intro to coding using block programming. Instructors will show “under the hood” code and teach basics of logic and programming so students can build their games. Students need a GMAIL account and are given computers to share or can bring their own dedicated computer (Any Wi-Fi enabled laptop ok). Camps include outdoor breaks. The class uses a variety of methods to teach logic to young minds including Scratch (used at MIT's intro computer class) and another curriculum.
PM: Grade 3 - 8
Marketing camp where students work in teams to learn basics of communication, marketing and power/pitfall of advertising. Teams are assigned real-life marketing challenges. They will compete for best presentation, write a brochure, create Ads, commercials and build a website. They analyze ads targeted at them and become media savvy. Students need an email account to create a website. Students are welcome to bring PC/tablet for personal use. The camp provides computers for teams to share. Last hour of last day parents are invited to the marketing-convention.
Leaders in Training (LIT) Grade 3 - 8
Are 2-3 reliable and mature high school students who will participate in all the camp lessons and activities but also assist the camp instructor and camp director. They will be trained and assist the instructors as well as conduct fun activities for campers. They may also be given an option to assist with blogging, marketing, etc. Successful LITs will get first priority for a paid internship in future camp seasons. Rising high school seniors or college students are encouraged to apply for jobs at startupwonder.com/jobs
