The purpose of the Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, Adult Swim and water safety courses and presentations. Candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before the last scheduled day of the course. Successful completion of the pre-course session, including demonstrating competency in the precourse swim skills evaluation, 25 yards of front crawl, 25 yards of back crawl, 25 yards of breaststroke, 25 yards of elementary backstroke, 25 yards of sidestroke, 15 yards of butterfly, maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water and tread water for !"minute. Passing of the class does not guarantee a position with the City of Morgan Hill. Bring a towel and proper swim attire; goggles are recommended.
