Calling All Young Singers!!!
OpShop is a 3-week opera theater program designed specifically for youth. This unique summer workshop is a fantastic opportunity for young singers and aspiring actors to study with acclaimed professionals and perform an opera composed for young voices. Singers work on dramatic preparation, character development, opera history, staging, performance practice, and more. All work and rehearsals prepare singers for two performances of John Rutter’s Piper of Hamelin!
Many have sung and love Rutter’s choral works. In Piper of Hamelin his chorus parts shine. The cast of characters are written with a comedic sophistication typical of British humor. The corrupt and raucous town council has no intention of paying the piper for getting rid of their rat problem, but the piper has a plan. This opera is not your normal Pied Piper fairy tale.
