Dancers ages 7 and up who are currently enrolled in EOSC Introductory School of Dance classes are invited to join the EOSC Performance Group! Students must audition to participate in this free program, which rehearses on Fridays from 5-6:30pm.
All dancers in the Performance Group must be enrolled in an appropriate level of Ballet technique class, as well as one other elective class (Jazz, Modern, or Hip Hop). The Performance Group rehearses several dances at a time, in all of the varying styles represented by our program. Solos, duets, trios, small group, and ensemble pieces will be cast according to the instructors' judgment of how to best showcase the dancers' strengths and help them each shine. Attendance at the full duration of weekly rehearsals is mandatory, as each dancer is an important member of a team that functions best when everyone is present.
Past performances have included events such as A Holiday Tradition and The Great Egg Hunt at the Dunsmuir-Hellman Historic Estate, A Taste of Spring presented by The Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation, Children's Play Day in the Plaza, the Works in the Works Performance Series in Berkeley, Winter and Spring Dance Concerts at EOSC, and more.
