What you'll do
Outfit your space with custom cardboard furniture in this weeklong DIY experience. Set up your workshop and get ready to build, transforming boxes and tape into a sturdy stool and cool modular cabinets you design, construct and decorate yourself.
Be courageous as you embrace the challenges of cardboard construction, exploring the best ways to cut and reinforce basic boxes. Harness the sturdiness of intersecting planes to build a strong, supportive stool, then embellish it with bold symmetrical patterns and your own furniture-line label. Turn your attention to cabinetry, learning how to make hinged doors, clean-lined frames and strong internal compartments. Engineer a series of connected cabinets, customized for your space and storage needs and stylized using repeating patterns. BE COLLABORATIVE by sharing your design ideas and helping your fellow builders troubleshoot tricky problems. Come away with custom furniture that shows off your unique style and newfound construction skills.
Note: This weeklong class is more than innovation-igniting projects—it’s an immersive experience full of delightful details, including interactive games, silly traditions, snacks (see Materials, below) and dress-up days designed to build community, bolster confidence and deliver loads of camp-away-from-camp fun.
