This camp offers kids an opportunity to put their chef hats on and get the rich experience of the culinary art. “There’s no wrong way to make a salad or sandwich.” And while there will be hands-on-cooking and education, the instructor promises that the approach will let kids be “wacky, silly, have a lot of fun, learn to explore and play in the kitchen."
Children will be using residential appliances, replicating what the campers are likely to have at home. Kids explore a delicious food theme during the week and learn the cooking skills and confidence to remake the recipes in their own kitchens.
In this camp, the students get formal classroom time in addition to their kitchen time each day. This enables our students to learn the science behind cooking as they get formal training on concepts like:
Knife skills & safety
Kitchen Safety rules – ‘call it out!’
Nutrition and Health
Label Reading and Deciphering
Ingredients
Ingredient Substitution
Calories
Kosher, Vegetarian, and Vegan Alternatives
There will be a picnic in the park (Lake Elizabeth) one day (TBD) where kids will learn to make food with a picnic theme.
