Level I – Beginner (new style for the dancer)
Lyrical is a form of jazz dance that has evolved to incorporate the staples of ballet, jazz and modern dance techniques. There is much emphasis on interpreting the lyrics, mood or intent of the music, to depict specific emotions. Often there is a concept or story dancers are working with to find ways of expressing emotion through their bodies. Improvisation is used to help dancers explore their movement more deeply and personally.
