Learn to Sew At Camp Fashionista

If you are age 6 & up you will start with hand sewing. You will learn basic stitches like the straight stitch, blanket stitch, and whip stitch as you create darling little projects to take home and treasure.

Students should be at least 8 years old to begin sewing on the machine at Camp Fashionista. Sometimes 7 year olds have the patience and dexterity required, so ask me to meet with your student to see if they’re ready.

We require students to start with Intro to Machine Sewing , which uses woven fabrics (like cotton and flannel) that are easier to work with and allow a student to focus on sewing safely, mastering straight stitches and building their confidence.

Next, we recommend the class Stretchy Sewing, which will teach students how to sew with stretchy knit fabrics (like jersey and fleece). Stretch fabrics are more difficult to work with and require different needles and stitches.

Please make sure to complete both classes before signing up for more advanced sewing. This will ensure that your child will have the skills needed to be successful with any type of fabric and enjoy sewing.

Illustrate Your Fashion Dreams At Camp Fashionista

Being able to express your ideas is a key part of being a fashion designer!

Camp Fashionista's fashion illustration curriculum is based on what Dori learned at FIDM and is focused on the industry-standard 9 head fashion figure.

Students will learn the correct proportions of the body, along with how to draw a great face, hands that look like hands instead of mittens, and feet in all kinds of cool shoes.

In addition, shading, color theory, and realistic looking fabrics are also part of the mix.

We offer lots of great drawing options like Draw a Collection, Watercolor Fashion Illustration, Collage, and Drawing with Markers. Speciality classes are also offered that focus on Drawing Realistic Fabrics, Fun Accessories, and Drawing Great Hair.

Our Anime Fashion Drawing and Chibi Drawing classes have been a big hit! You will learn the proportions of the Anime figure, how to draw those big shiny eyes, fabulous hairstyles, and of course dress them in the outfit you design.
