The Granville Project is a partnership between ArtsTech and KC Parks and Rec where we collaborate and bring STEAM programing to young women in the inner city. Currently, we are working with young people from ArtsTech after-school, Ace Middle School, and Mary L Kelly Center afterschool programing. Our goal with the Granville project is to interest in more young women of color to go into careers that are STEM or STEAM oriented. We plan to do this by exposing them to the latest technology, teaching them how to use/make equipment, and creating an atmosphere where they are constantly engaged with minority women who are STEM OR STEAM professionals.
ArtsTech will offer the Granville Project to 50 young women identified and recruited by KCMO Parks and Recreation
The comprehensive technology curriculum includes:
- Basic Computer Skills and Vocabulary
- Computers – What is inside and how it works

Weekly learning workshops are an opportunity for the young female technicians to increase their skills sets with each session. Each participants will earn basic technology skills and advanced coding based on their interest, ability, and effort. As the program progresses, paid employment for skilled technicians 15 years and older is a good possibility in ArtsTech’s Computer Redistribution Program.
